Dwarf very compact evergreen. Needles are shorter than regular mugho pine. Shearing or cutting back the new growth in late May will also keep pine compact.
Cones are retained for several years, resulting in a coarse appearance. Trunk bark is dark and later develops scaly ridges. Branchlets yellow to greenish-brown when young, turning gray-brown with age. Two twisted, divergent needles, yellow-green in color. Needles are shorter than Scots Pine...
Native to Alberta, this tree is a tall upright grower with slightly broader needles 6 to 8.5cm long and large cones. Very low shade tolerance. (12m ht. 3m sp.)
Mops mugho forms a naturally compact plant and does not require pruning of the candles to maintain its shape. A true dwarf type.
Very hardy dense shrubby pine with dark green needles. Shearing in late May helps to keep pine full and compact.
Large pyramidal evergreen with long dark needles in bunches of three. Cinnamon brown bark stands out in the winter. Excellent choice for large landscapes (15m ht. 6m sp.)
Characteristic reddish, twisted bark with grey-green or blue-green needles. (12m ht. 6m sp.)
Uniform dense rounded form ideal for rock gardens. No shearing required. Does not require pruning of the candles to maintain its shape.
